At 26-2 in MMA Kyoji Horiguchi might be the top flyweight in the world besides current UFC Champion Demetrius Johnson who Horguchi lost to in 2015 via a final second submission in the 5th round at UFC 186. The only other loss in Kyoji’s career came in 2012 when he lost a decision to long time Shooto star Masakatsu Ueda.
Horiguchi has now won 8 in a row-after having left the UFC after a victory over Ali Bagautinov at UFC FN 99. Now fighting for the RIZIN FF in Japan, Horiguchi has secured an independent sponsorship with Reebok and won the Rizin FF World Bantamweight Grand Prix by defeating Hideo Tokyo, Gabriel Leite De Oliveira, and Canel Vape during the tournament.
Ian McCall has lost 5 out of 7 fights since a DRAW against Demetrius Johnson at UFC on FX 2 back in 2012. While McCall has struggled, the former top ranked Flyweight has faced tough competition in Joseph Benavidez, Demetrious Johnson, John Lineker, Manel Kape and Kyoji Horiguchi. McCall did not immediately let his future plans known as to wether he will continue fighting or if he is looking at retirement from the sport.
