UFC Glendale featured Muslim Salikhov of Dagestan Russia against Ricky Rainey of the USA. Muslim Salikhov is nicknamed the King of Kung Fu had an 0-1 UFC record heading into the bout after beating Melvin Guillard at Kunlun Fight 12 and racking up a series of wins with his only defeat coming against Kris Hocum.

Ricky Rainey took the fight on 3 weeks notice with a professional record of 13 wins and only 4 defeats heading into the bout. Rainey had won two in a row after a los to Chidi Njokuani at Bellator 146 by Decision. Rainey has also faced Michael Page, losing to the Bellator superstar by TKO at Bellator 120.
Muslim Salikhov used his precision striking to counter a slow jab over the top landing with a power right hand which stunned Ricky Rainey before finishing the bout with a couple of extra strikes as Rainey covered himself on the ground and the ref stepped in to stop the fight.
