This October The Rock’s new move “The Smashing Machine” will be released and is supposed to be based on the life of 2x UFC Tournament Champion Mark Kerr. The movie which was directed by Benny Safdie is goign to be released by independent film company A24 which won an Academy Award as producers of the 2022 Everything Everywhere All at once.
Speaking to Pat McAfee Dwayne Johnson had this to say, “I had been wanting for years now to chase the challenge and be inspired by the challenge. I love making the bigger. blockbuster movies, they’re a lot of fun. They’re hard as shit to make, and a lot of people enjoy the, hopefully, knock on wood, around the world But I wanted more. I wanted a challenge, and I wanted the opportunity to disappear into something and disappear into a part and a role that would really challenge me in ways that I’ve never been challenged before.”
The film is based on Mark Kerr’s climb to the top of the MMA World and his rise in Japan including his fall from grace and eventual battle with addiction. The movie stars Ryan Bader, Mark Coleman, and Oleksandr Usyk alongside Satoshi Ishii. Mark Kerr was considered one of the best fighters on the planet at one time and this movie will be a great introduction to many fans.
