Former Japanese MMA fighter turned Professional Boxer Miyo Yoshida shocked everyone this past weekend when she dominated Ebanie Bridges in San Fransisco to win the IBF Bantamweight Boxing World Championship.
Yoshida who is 17-4 as a professional won by a unanimous decision with scores of 99-91, 99-91, and 97-93 putting on a dominate performance despite being a 7-1 underdog according to Draft Kings entering the ring.
Ebanie accepted several opponent and last minute changes however Yoshida at 35 years of age and coming of a 10 round decision loss to Shurretta Metcalf this past Nov. proved to be a worthy opponent with her unorthodox style.
The back and forth fight was a fan favorite with iconic images of Miyo Yoshida’s young daughter ringside cheering her mom to victory. The single mother Yoshida brought her daughter into the ring while the belt was wrapped around her who was noticeably crying after witnessing her moms heroic performance.
