Now that is official and Saul Canelo Alvarez isn’t going to be fighting Cinco De Mayo against Gennady Golovkin, promoters are struggling to scramble and find a replacement fighter for the Mexican star who is currently suspended by the NSAC and formally withdrew his name from the scheduled date.

It now appears that Golovkin will be facing an Irish fighter by the name of Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan wh0 has a professional record of 27 wins and only 2 defeats, with 19 of those wins coming by way of KO. While O’Sullivan has built his resume against mostly smaller named fighters, when he stepped up to fight Chris Eubank JR in 2015 he was crushed with a 7th round stoppage in a very one sided fight.
While nothing is official that GGG is going to be facing O’Sullivan, our sources are telling us that it is very likely, especially considering the lack of interest Demetrius Andrade generated with his social media push of the fight. GGG has made it known that he still plans on fighting May 5th. Will fans be willing to pay 70$ for an HBO PPV against a fighter they aren’t familiar with? we might find out.
I will be defending my titles on Cinco de Mayo in Las Vegas!
