Michael Chandler made his return to the wrestling mats and picked up a win against UFC legend Chad Mendes.  A former wrestler at the University of Missouri before becoming a Bellator MMA Champion and eventual UFC Star Michael Chandler faced the former UFC fighter now BKFC contender Chad Mendes at Real American Freestyle 3 which was held in Chicago Illinois.

Chad Mendes was a wrestling standout at Cal Polly where he was a 2x All American and a runner up for the 2009 National Championships where he lost to Ohio States’ J Jaggers in the finals.  Chad Mendes had the higher wrestling credentials however it was Michael Chandler who secure the top position and scored the more points to win the wrestling match over Mendes who previously fought for the UFC Featherweight championship.

Mendes used an early tie tip to try and roll Chandler to his back however Chandler escaped the grip and reversed his own roll which scored him two points and he was later given another point when Mendes was too passive.  Chandler was up 3-0 and continued to push the action as the fight was stopped multiple times for eye pokes and accidental headbutts.  Pushing Mendes out of the mats Chandler scored another point which sealed the victory for him.

Full results included Bo Basset pinning Darrion Caldwell, Alexis Gomez avenging her loss to Bella Mir, Pat Downey Technical fall over Joaquin Buckley, Cayden Henschel defeating Clay Guida by Technical fall, Jordan Oliver over Real Woods, Austin Gomes defeating Austin O’ Connor, Andrii Yatsenko pinning Spencer Lee, Akhmed Tazhudinov over Anthony Cassioppi, Kennedy Blades win over Alejandra Rivera.
