Cris Cyborg trained with two of the biggest MMA stars from the Philippines inside of her private gym in Huntington beach as she hosted Filipino MMA Pioneer Eduard Folayan and next generation superstar Joshua Pacio for fight camp training.
Folayang is a 2x One Lightweight World Champion and a former URCC Welterweight Champion and has faced legends in Combat Sports such as Ole Laursen, Kotetsu Boku, Shinya Aoki, Eddie Alvarez, John Wayne Parr, and Vuyisile Colossa. Having recently started his own training facility in the Philippines this 3x SEA Wushu World Champion is already passing on his combat sports knowledge to the next generation of Filipino superstars.
Both Eduard Folayang and Joshua Pacio were Team Lakay standouts before heading in a different direction with there Martial Arts and professional fighting careers. Pacio now 27 years old had his first shot at an MMA World Championship at only 20 years old as the Strawweight faced Yoshitaka Naito of Japan before eventually defeating the champion at One Conquest of Heroes to capture the One Strawweight Championship. a 2x Champion with 3 title defenses Pacio is looking to recapture gold with One Championship.
Cyborg had this to say about her training partners, “They both have tremendous timing and distance control. Folayang and Pacio are very talented strikers and training with them in the USA has been a great opportunity. I hope to visit them in the Philippines sometime.”
