Fans this past weekend were treated to a continuation of the first fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano from 2 years ago. While the first fight ended in controversy after 10 rounds as the Main Event of Madison Square Garden that saw Katie Taylor win a decision after 10 rounds of action against Amanda Serrano in a fight of the year bout, many felt Serrano had won the fight.
Round 11 (the second fight) started off just like the first one with both fighters establishing their punching style as Katie Taylor attacked from the outside before getting in close to tie up while Serrano hunted for power punches. Serrano who looked to have Katie hurt in both of the fights suffered a nasty gash over her right eye caused by a headbutt from Katie Taylor.
After two more headbutts from Katie Taylor a point was eventually deducted. Going the full 10 rounds as the Co Main Event of Jake Paul Vs Mike Tyson the fight again went to the judges score cards and once again the decision left the crowd in controversy as Katie Taylor won a second decision against Amanda Serrano who moved up 4 weight classes to give fans the superfight.
Wthout a doubt these two women and the 20 rounds they have shared against one another have elevated the sport of women’s boxing giving them both a claim to the GWOAT status. Following the fight PFL World Champion Cris Cyborg called for a female cross over fight featuring the MMA Grand Slam Champion against Katie Taylor a 2 weight class undisputed boxing champion.
Do you think we could see a mega fight between these two stars one day? Cris has 3 MMA fights at 140 pounds in her career.
