Kamaru Usman turns back the clock with UFC Atlanta performance

While some might have thought Kamaru Usman’s best days as an elite welterweight were behind him, the former UFC Champions showed he still has some tank in the gas in his recent performance against Joaquin Buckley.  Usman who had lost his past 3 fights stepped up for his first fight in almost 2 years to secure a big decision victory over Buckley who many felt was the next in line for a title shot with a win over Usman.

Joaquin Buckley had won 8 consecutive UFC fights including TKO over Wonderboy Thompson and Colby Covington.  The sold out event saw Rose Namajunas return to her winning ways with a decision win over Miranda Maverick while Edmen Shahbayzan picked up his own victory over Andre Petroski.

Cody Garbrandt had signed a new UFC deal prior to the fight with Raoni Barcelos however he was on the losing end of a decision performance. Mansur Abdul Malik stayed undefeated over Cody Brundage, Alonbzo Minefield picked a decision over Oumar Sy giving him his first loss as a MMA pro. Paul Craig and Rodolfo Bellato ended in No Contest after a weird up kick scenario played out.

Michael Chiesa defeated Court McGee by decision, Malcom Wellmaker improved to 10-0 with a Ko of the night over Kris Moutinho and Jose Ochoa, Ricky Simon and Phil Rowe picked up wins while the nights opening action saw Jamey Lyn Horth of Canada defeat Vanessa Demopoulos.
