Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has been collected on a federal arrest warrant after his 10 round boxing fight against Jake Paul over the weekend. In a press release by the US Department of Homeland Security, it was announced that ICE had detailed the Mexican boxer and was in the process of expediting his removal from the USA and returning him back to Mexico.
“Chavez is a Mexican citizen who has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his involvement in organized crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition, and explosives.” read the statement. It was announced that Chavez had entered the country legally in August of 2023 on an B2 tourist Visa which had expired in February 2024. The statement also added that he applied for a lawful permanent resident status based on a marriage to a citizen who had previously been married to the son of cartel leader Joaquin El Chapo Guzman.
A December 2024 statement from US Citizenship and Immigration services referred the matter to ICE calling Chavez a “public safety threat.” January of 2025 Chavez was allowed to re-enter the USA with temporary parole permission. Following what DHS called multiple fraudulent statements on his application to become a lawful permanent resident, he was scheduled for removal June 27th.
Chavez has a history of arrests for DUI and driving without a license and various weapon legalities in the USA.
