Joseph Benavidez is the #1 contender in the Flyweight division, and there have been rumors of a possible interim title fight between him and Henry Cejudo should the UFC have any difficulty booking a fight with Demetrious Johnson later this year. While Benavidez is currently riding a 6 fight win streak, it doesn’t appear his popularity as a fighter was enough to make the PPV portion, or even the FS1 portion of the UFC 225 broadcast, with his fight against Sergio Pettis instead being scheduled for the Internet Broadcast platform known as UFC Fight Pass.
Benavidez is going to fight Serio Pettis in a bout that will determine the next in line for a world title fight. While UFC 225 is a stacked card, the bout order has left for some questionable adjustments as #1 heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem has seen his bout dropped from the PPV to the Fs1 broadcast, and the UFC has included 0-1 CM Punk in the PPV portion of the event.
Also making the PPV telecast is Holly Holm despite facing a female fighter in Megan Anderson who is making her UFC debut and struggling with a 1-4 record over her last 5 fights. Benavidez talking to MMA Weekly, let everyone know that he felt snubbed by the UFC placing him on the UFC Fights
