GFL MMA set for 1st set of events May 24th and 25th in Los Angeles CA

The Global Fight League announced their first back-to-back events will take place in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium–the same venue Cris Cyborg fought Charmaine Tweet as the main event of Invicta FC 11. GFL has a new concept with team X team matchups concluding for points towards overall standings, the event also takes place over two days. With 6 teams in the league representing 6 world series the promotion held a draft this past February which helped assemble the teams. In a press release GFL announced that “Team names and identities” will be announced before the season.

Bouts in the GFL score 4 points for a win by finish, 3 for a decision win, 2 for a draw, and 1 if you are not stopped and lose by decision. There are both male and female divisions and 10 weight classes are represented in the league. GFL Global Fight League is promising fighters a 50-50 revenue split.

With 31 bouts currently scheduled during the 2 day fight fest all six GFL MMA teams Los Angeles, New York, London, Dubai, Sao Paulo, and Miami will be represented. It is expected that future events for the GFL MMA season including venue and locations would be announced soon.

The full fight card features many UFC, PFL, One Championship, and Bellator MMA Champions. While there are several rematches there are some fresh fights with strong veterans which promise to make for some exciting matchups.
