20-1 Gabriel Bonfim just picked up the biggest win of his career at UFC Fight Night 278 which took place in Las Vegas at the Apex when he faced former UFC Welterweight champion Belal Muhammad picking up a 5 round decision. With the victory Bonfim improved to 7-1 in the UFC and 20-1 overall. The Co Main event saw a pair of middleweights as Brendan Allen picked up a decision win over Edmen Shahbazyan. The loss for Shahbazyan snapped his 3 fight winning streak while Brendan Allen scored his 3rd consecutive win including victories over Reiner De Ridder and Marvin Vettori.
Tom Nolan used forward pressure and dominate grappling to secure a decision win over Fares Ziam. Bryce Mitchell secured the arm triangle submission over Santiago Luna with only 8 seconds remaining in the final round. Iwo Baraniewski used leg kicks and some strong punches to hand Junior Tafa a TKO loss while Alessandro Costa brought the power finishing Matt Schnell halfway through the first round of their fight.
Marcus McGhee picked up a decision win over John Yannis while Edgar Chairez used a RNC to secure a win over Bruno Silva. Improving to 3-3 in the UFC the 35 year old Chelsea Chandler scored a submission win over Priscilla Cachoeira by first round armbar. Joanderson Brito defeated Jordan Leavitt with a Ninja Choke with less than a minute left in the 1st round. Heuska Chgaves and Ketlen Souza where the other two fighters to pick up victories at UFC Fight Night 278.
UFC Fight Nights especially the Apex events are a great opportunity for rising talent to showcase their skills and hopefully get promoted to the main numbereed UFC events.
