David Benavidez adds the WBA Light Heavyweight title to his resume as he defends the WBC Interim Light Heavyweight against David Morrell in an entertaining fight in front of a sold out Las Vegas crowd. Benavidez known as the Mexican Monster had a tough opponent who made it possible for both fighters to show their true talents to the boxing crowd.
With the win Benavidez moves to 30-0 with 24 KO’s while Morrell takes his first loss after starting his career 11-0. Both fighters pushed forward with more than 1000 combined punches being thrown b the two as Benavidez scored an 118-108 and a 115-11 x2 on the judges score cards to win a decision.
Benavidez used huge hooks and upper cuts while fighting the gloves of Morrell to land 40$ of his punches showcasing great accuracy with his punch selection. Benavidez who is trained by his father Jose Benavidez Sr and the Benvidez Boxing Team was well prepared for all 12 rounds, and while an official knock down was scored, under review many clearly ruled that a trip which should not have resulted in a standing count. Cris Cyborg has spent time in Seattle, Phoenix, and Las Vegas training with Team Benavidez as she looks to improve her Boxing career.
