Claressa Shields might just be her own worst enemy. Currently the self proclaimed “GWOAT” has a movie out in theaters where her biopic is premiering with a story of empowerment and the advancement of women’s sports, however the Flint Michigan native can’t stop bringing up Cris Cyborg in interviews.
During her most recent appearance the World Champion Boxer told the Pound 4 Pound podcast that “Cris Cyborg is old” claiming that she ”kicked her ass, easy” during a sparring session in which Cyborg paid for her flight and hotel accommodations following Claressa’s professional boxing victory just days before.
Since Claressa Shields and Cris Cyborg are both signed to the same MMA promotion PFL, Professional Fighters League an opportunity to make a double cross over superfight seems obvious. While Boxing stars like James Toney fought Randy Couture, Ray Mercer famously Knocked Out former UFC Champion Tim Siylvia inside the MMA Cage. The Self proclaimed The GWOAT Claressa Shields, doesn’t seem confident in her own abilities however, as she went on to say that she would not accept an MMA fight against Cris Cyborg, before continuing on that she felt she would beat her in a street fight. To this Cris Cyborg replied, “I”m a 40 year old multimillionaire, giving her an opportunity to make the biggest money of her career and she is talking about streetfights, we are not the same.”
