
The Professional Fighters League continues their global expansion with the launch of the PFL Africa series and as part of the first event they are bringing several blockbuster fights to the continent. The recent announcments included AJ McKee returning to the 145lbs featherweight division to face Akhmed Magomedov who enters the competition with an 11-2 record. The PFL Champions series protion of the event will be showcased on the PFL Africa Cape Town fight card.
Also added to the fight card was a heavyweight bout where Corey Anderson will fight former PFL champion Denis Goltsov. Corey Anderson has not fought since March of 2024 where he was awarded the vacant Bellator light heavyweight championship by defeating Karl Moore.
Goltsov won the PFL tournament last year having competed in the tournament 5 separate years without a championships victory. The main event of PFL Africa will feature Johnny Eblen defending his middleweight world championship against Costello Van Steenis and the 2024 PFL Tournament champion Dakota Ditcheva facing Sumiko Inaba in the Co Main event.
Cris Cyborg captured the PFL MMA belt last October making her the 1st Mixed Martial Arts Champion to own 5 promotional belts including Bellator MMA, UFC, Invicta FC, and Strikeforce championships on her resume. Cris Cyborg is currently ranked top 10 in the world as a professional boxer and is expected to make her Professional fighters league return sometime earl fall.
