Perhaps the fight of the night in Combat Sports belonged to boxing last night as Badou Jack and Adonis Stevenson had a 12 round war at their 175lbs weight division in Toronto. Adonis Stevenson and Badou Jack threw down with Stevenson winning the early rounds, and Badou Jack taking the later rounds as he started to warm up.
Two judges scored the fight exactly even, while the third judge gave the bout to Jack 115-113. since two out of three judges scored the bout as even, the final ruling is a majority DRAW. Stevenson 40 years of age was able to retain the title in a difficult defense against the 34 year old Jack who saw his career get the third DRAW of his young 25 fight career.
Stevenson felt he won the showtime boxing fight with his strikes to the body, saying “I hurt him in the body and he got slowed down. I kept the pressure on him. he was moving and moving- slick, slick- but I touched him more of the time and I think I won this fight.”
Jack went on to say “I thought I definitely won the fight, definitely won the fight. Nobody’s complaining and no judge had him winning.” Stevenson has now made title defenses since winning the championship from Chad Dawson, in 2013 with a shocking KO in Montreal.
