Competing in front of 70,482 fans Terence Crawford put on a Boxing masterclass as he dominated Canelo Alvarez the majority of the fight despite how close the score cards reflected following the 12 rounds of action.
Crawford improved to 42-0 with 31 KO’s while the match was scored 115-114, 116-112 many in the media had the fight much wider with the associated press scoring the fight 118-110 for the fighter from Omaha Nebraska. Despite being the older and less active fighter and moving up 2 whole weight classes, Crawford knew he had done enough to win the decision falling to a knee in celebration before the winner had even been officially read on the scorecards.
Canelo hadn’t lost since 2022 when he suffered a decision to Dmitrii Bivol in a fight where Canelo moved up a weight division. The was the first boxing fight held inside of the Allegiant stadium and set the live gate record as 3rd all time behind Floyd Mayweather X Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather X Conor McGregor.
Fans of Cris Cyborg will remember back in 2022 when she made her boxing debut in the USA as the CO Main event to a fight card headlined by Terence Crawford in Omaha Nebraska. Speaking on Terence Crawford’s fight, Cris Cyborg 17x MMA Champion had this to say about the performance, “Crawford always believed in his abilities. He went out and executed everything with complete confidence and control. Superior footwork and the ability to fight when he needed made this such an incredible performance for Terence Crawford.”
