PFL playoffs start Aug 18th in New York

The Professional Fighters League is the only MMA promotion which hosts a regular season where athletes score points ahead of a playoff format to determine a yearly tournament champion who claims a million dollar prize with the victory. This weekend the SemiFinals get started live from The Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The event which will air on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN + will feature the Heavyweight and Women’s Featherweight divisions as Renan Ferreira gets set to face Maurice Greene at Heavyweight while Last season’s champion Larissa Pacheho will face Olen Kolensnyk a fighter who she has KO’d twice in the first round previously. The other Women’s Featherweight bout features Marina Mokhnatkina against Amber Leibrock while the Men’s Heavyweight bout will feature Denis Goltsov against Jordan Heiderman.

Danilo Marques will face Japanese Judo star Satoshi Ishii in a showcase bout that will be featured on ESPN +

Currently both Bellator MMA and PFL have a women’s featherweight division with Cris Cyborg set to defend her belt at Bellator 300 against #1 contender Cat Zingano. Also expected on that fight card would be matchup between Sara McMann and Leah McCourt. With rumors of a PFL possible buyout of Bellator MMA it would be interesting to see those Superstar fighters join Larissa Pacheco and Kayla Harrison as part of a Featherweight Tournament in the future.
