Jake Paul put on a fight of the night effort against Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia in a bout that continued to grow in interest with each cancellation. Jake Paul who has shown great skill and improvements each time he has stepped into the ring has yet to face a ‘Professional Boxer’ as fans would call it.
While 6-0 as a Pro in Boxing Jake Paul has 2 fights against former UFC World Champion Tyrone Woodley and a win over Anderson Silva to go with his victory over Ben Askren. Add into that resume a former NBA Slam Dunk contest Champion and another Youtube sensation and you have one of the sport of Boxing’s most popular fighters in Jake Paul.
While a professional boxer many critics argued that Tommy Fury was going to be a custom fit opponent for Jake Paul and that his 8-0 record was built against opponent who were less than stellar including one with over 100 defeats and several with double digit losses and still no victories on their record.
The Hype of the fight lived up and fans got what they hoped for as each fighter showed great heart in a fun and entertaining fight. Jake Paul scored the only ‘knockdown’ in the fight and Tommy Fury showed great composure winning a split decision on the judges score cards after 8 rounds.
With an automatic rematch clause it is expected that Jake Paul will exercise that and face Tommy Fury inside of the boxing ring next, which would lead to speculation that a possible crossover MMA fight with the PFL Professional Fighter’s League would be less likely to occur in 2023.
