Historic first: MMA Promotion Vs MMA promotion event takes place New Years Eve on Showtime Sports

If you are a fan of MMA, then you have to know about the legacy that is Japanese MMA and New Years Eve.  Inoki Bom Ba Ye, PRIDE FC, K-1 Dynamite, K-1, DREAM, DEEP, and RIZIN.  Historically these fight arts have been filled with the biggest stars in the sport including Nogueria, Bob Sapp, Sakuraba, Royce Gracie, Rampage Jackson, Kevin Randleman, Fedor, and so many more.

While the sport of Boxing gets cross promotional bouts between Champions due to the Muhamad Ali Act, the sport of MMA traditionally does not mix fighters, especially stars between promotions which makes it difficult for anyone to truly claim ‘World Champion’ as you saw when Strikeforce was consumed by the UFC only to have all their fighters become ‘UFC’ champions.

This New Years Eve the Bellator MMA promotion will be sending 5 of their best fighters to Japan to face the Rizin FF team in a true cross promoted event.  Rizin which is considered the powerhouse promotion of Asia will face Bellator MMA on the Showtime Sports network starting at 5PM PST on the Showtime Network! Will this event eventually lead to the UFC having to challenge their champions to be considered undisputed? Tune in to find out.
