
Congratulations to Cyborg Nation fan favorite Dione Barbosa on signing her 2nd contract with the UFC. A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo Black Belt from Belo Horizonte Minas Gerais Brazil, Barbosa as an important part of training camp for Cris Cyborg as she prepared for several of her Bellator MMA Championship title defenses.
Upon moving to the USA Barbosa was signed with the LFA promotion goin 2-1 in the organization with her only loss against PFL Tournament Semi finalist Jenna Bishop. Following a short notice DWCS fight against Rainn Guerrero, Dione Barbosa was signed to the UFC and made her promotional debut against Ernesta Kareckaite picking up a decision at UFC 301 in Brazil.
Accepting another short notice fight against the highly rated Miranda Maverick, Barbosa lost a decision before rebounding earlier this year with a win over Diane Belbita to improve her UFC record to 2 wins against only 1 loss. Barbosa who used JJ Aldrich being removed from UFC 319 due to injury announced the new deal following news of her replacing JJ Aldrich at UFC Chicago Aug. 16th.
Barbosa will face Karine Silva in a rematch from the Brazilian regional circuit back in 2019 when Barbosa picked up a decision win to improve to 3-0 and Karine Silva fell to 9-4 with the loss. Silva now 18-5 loss a decision to Viviane Araujo after 3 consecutive stoppage wins in the UFC.
Barbosa X Silva will join a stacked fight card including Dricus Du Plessis X Khamzat Chimaev, Aaron Pico X Lerone Murphy, Jared Cannonier X Michael Page, Geoff Neal X Carlos Prates, Gerald Meerschaert X Michale Oleksieiczuk, Edson Barboza X Drakkar Klose, King Green X Diego Ferreira, Bryan Battle X Nursulton Ruzimoev, Tim Elliott X Kai Asakura, Chase Hooper X Alexander Hernandez and Jessica Andrade X Loopy Godinez.
