Boxing fans got stuck with a few ‘less than exciting’ matchups this weekend. Things got started with Devin Haney dancing around the ring as fans begged for action, and seemed to continue as Canelo Alvarez took the ring in Riyadh Saudi Arabia against William Scull.
Scull spent a majority of the boxing fight on his backfoot while Canelo Alvarez seemed content to mostly stalk using feints and footwork. After 12 rounds of fighting Canelo was declared the winner by unanimous decision which saw Canelo picking up the IBF championship despite all of the lateral movement used by his opponent.
Following the Canelo Alvarez fight Sheik Turki Alshikh brought Terence Crawford into the ring and introduced a ‘new belt’ which he claims is 100% gold ahead of the Sept. 12th Championship fight between Terence Crawrford and Canelo Alvarez planned for the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Cybog who made her professional boxing debut on the undercard of Terence Crawford’s return to Omaha Nebraska will be making a return to the boxing ring May 17th in San Jose California as the Co Main event of San Jose Fight Night when she fights the top 20 ranked female boxer in the world Precious Harris McCray. Fans can get their tickets for Cris Cyborg’s fight here.
