The face of Boxing Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez made a return in Las Vegas for the annual Cinco De Mayo grand Mexican boxing weekend earning a decision victory over fellow Mexican boxing sensation Jaime Munguia with scores of 117-100, 116-111,115-112, inside of the sold out Tmobile arena.
Canelo showed his power early dropping Jaime Munguia in the fourth round however he was unable to get the super middleweight contender out before the 12th round as Munguia made a good showing of himself staying tough and attempting his best efforts to move forward and keep the fight competitive despite what the score cards reflected.
Canelo’s accuracy was on full display as he used his defensive work to set up counter strikes to control most of the action punishing Munguia with solid combinations. During the 9th round fans saw Munguia pick up the momentum only to be matched with the intensity as Canelo responded with his own combinations. Canelo went on to give fans another amazing display of Boxing. Following the fight Canelo was immediately asked about fighting David Benavidez…do you think we will see this fight happen eventually?
