Jon Jones extended his streak of dominance at UFC 285 however this time he reached the Heavyweight division as he captured the UFC Heavyweight championship belt defeating former interim champion Ciryl Gane in a bout for the vacant UFC Heavyweight Championship which was left when Francis Ngannou left the organization as a free agent without suffering a defeat as champion.
While Jon jones streak of dominance continued, fellow champion Valentina Shevchenko suffered her first loss inside of the flyweight division which she had rained as the divisions only 2nd champion. Facing former Invicta FC Champion Alexa Grasso who was prepared for the 5 rounds of battle and the bout being 2-2 in the 4th round according to many judging the fight. Grasso took Shevchenko back off a failed spinning kick attack and submitted the champion at 4:34 of the fourth round to take the 125lbs championship belt.
