Molly McCan might be done with MMA, but she isn’t done with combat sports~! The fan favorite sat down with Eddie Hearn last week to announce that Molly McCann had signed with his promotional company Matchroom Boxing, teasing “some massive nights” for the UK star.
“Molly McCann will compete now as a boxer”, Hearn continued “About time, I’d like to say, as well, former ABA champion. Everybody knows the ability as a boxer. Obviously she’s been a massive star within the UFC, built her profile globally, as well, and we’re delighted to start the journey with her.”
Meatball Molly has been a UFC fan favorite after fighting in the organization 14 times and holding a 7-7 record. In 2021 Molly joined Paddy Pimblett and the two Brits were huge crowd favorites for the UK promoted events. McCann has amateur boxing experience and is the cousin of boxing legend Katie Taylor.
McMann has never actually competed professionally in the sport of Boxing however at 35 years of age she is expecting to be heading towards a world title fight within 8 professional boxing bouts. in one of her most recent interviews.
Cris Cyborg a 17x MMA World Champion and undefeated at 7-0 competing in Boxing had this to say about Meatball Molly’s Boxing transition, “She is a huge crowd favorite in the UK and an absolute crowd favorite. I expect her to do big things quickly in boxing.”
