If it wasn’t for a 2022 loss at 155lbs against Martina Jindrova in the PFL MMA tournament by split decision Jacqueline Cavalcanti would be undefeated in mixed martial arts. Transitioning from Muay Thai into Mixed Marital Arts Cavalcanti picked up MMA in Portugal after moving to the country from Brazil at the age of 10.
Wins over Nora Cornolle and Melissa Croden on the regional scene proved she was ready for the UFC. Following her LFA Championship win over eventual UFC fighter Melissa Corden, Cavalcanti has won 5 straight UFC fights in the Bantamweight division including a rematch against Nora Cornolle now that both fighters are in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
With the victory over Sheetera Mayra Bueno Silva the standout Jacqueline Cavalcanti has a former UFC title contender on her resume including impressive names such as Josiane Nunes, Zarah Fairn, and Julia Avila who are regional fan favorites in the WMMA divisions. Cris Cyborg who initially met a young Cavalcanti during a seminar in Portugal had this to say about the standout fighter, “She is the new generation, the future of the bantamweight division. Her aggressive striking and her ability to fight with a smart IQ make her a difficult fight for a lot of women in that weight division and she’s only going to grow with more experience.”
