The IBF came out and demanded that Jai Opetaia make clear his intentions to defend the IBF World Championship belt, as they have affirmed their decision not to recognize their belt alongside the newly created ZUFFA Boxing Championship belt…which technically until the Ali Reform Act changes have been approved is illegal in the USA?!
The sanctioning body requested Jai Opetaia if he will defend his IBF cruiser weight title or compete for the newly created Zuffa Boxing belt as they sanctioning body said their championship can not appear alongside a promoted created title in the same fight.
ESPN first reported the news that they will not allow their belt to appear alongside a promoter created belt which will require the Australian Champion to make a decision prior to Sunday’s boxing bout. Brandon Glanton will bring his 21-3 record into the ring as he travels from atlanta to face the Australian standout. The Ring Cruiserweight Championship is also held by the Australian Southpaw which operates independently without sanctioning body approval for contested.
What do you think the Boxer from Australia will announce as his decision? Do you thing the sanctioning belt system which has been used Boxing is about to be changed forever? Do you think this is for the best in boxing?
